Spring motorhome inspection
ADAC Hessen-Thüringen recommends a spring check for motorhomes after winter storage. Key points include checking the battery, brakes, tire pressure, and gas system. Since 2025, motorhomes with gas equipment must be inspected every two years. It is also advised to check tire age via the DOT code and replace tires after 8–10 years. Water tanks should be cleaned, and the validity of the general inspection and gas check should be verified.
Tips for beginners
In March 2026, Germany registered ten percent more motorhomes than a year earlier — over 900,000 in total. Beginners are advised to carry: a portable power station, a foldable solar panel, a water canister, a camping shower, toilet additive, a multi-tool, lightweight camping furniture, light sources, leveling ramps, and a CEE adapter.
Eliminating odors
After long storage, motorhomes can develop unpleasant smells. Recommended measures include thorough ventilation, washing textiles, cleaning upholstery with an extractor, treating the refrigerator and toilet, and replacing the cabin air filter.
