The EU GSR II regulation, effective from 1 July 2026 (some sources say 7 July), mandates that all new motorhomes be fitted with a set of driver-assistance systems. Requirements vary by weight: vehicles up to 3.5 t must have eight systems, including automatic braking, lane-keeping, fatigue detection and a rear-view camera; heavier models must also have blind-spot monitoring and start-off warning.
According to industry estimates, this will raise the price of new vehicles by €1000–3000 (one source cites a range up to €5000). Owners of older vehicles are not required to retrofit anything — the rules apply only to first registrations. Dealers are already offering discounts on existing stock without GSR II.
