From July 7, 2026, the EU's General Safety Regulation II mandates a set of driver-assistance systems for all newly registered motorhomes. Industry estimates put the extra cost at €1,000–€3,000 per vehicle. Light motorhomes under 3.5 t must have eight systems, including autonomous emergency braking and fatigue detection; heavier models require blind-spot and moving-off information systems. Older motorhomes are exempt – the rules apply only to first registrations.
