Platform Salvar Oyambre has demanded that the Government of Cantabria reconsider the application of the new motorhome decree (Decree 35/2026) in protected natural areas. Activists warn of irreversible damage to Oyambre Natural Park, including mass tourism and simplified procedures for setting up parking areas.
According to the organization, the document prioritizes tourism development over nature protection. The decree, published in the official bulletin of Cantabria, removes capacity limits for new service areas and simplifies administrative procedures, posing risks to ecosystems, including Natura 2000 sites. Risks include degradation of soils, dunes, and salt marshes.
Salvar Oyambre calls for an immediate halt to motorhome parking projects near Oyambre Natural Park, independent environmental assessments, and strict application of the precautionary principle.
