From July 1, 2026, the Netherlands introduces a kilometer charge for trucks (categories N2 and N3) on most highways and some other roads. Campers registered as 'Kampeerwagen (SA)' are exempt, regardless of weight (even over 3,500 kg). Owners of campers with foreign license plates must apply for exemption in advance via the official website, selecting 'Ander voertuig'. Checking registration via RDW is essential to avoid issues.

German Federal Fiscal Court: Luxury motorhome sales can be tax-exempt

Germany's highest fiscal court has ruled that the short-term resale of expensive motorhomes is not necessarily subject to speculation tax. The decision stems from a case where a Saxon couple sold a motorhome for €315,000 a few months after purchase. The court classified the motorhome as an item for personal use, which is an exception to the one-year tax rule for private sales.
