In the first quarter of 2026, the number of applications for motorhome deregistration in the Netherlands rose to 17,318, more than double the figure for the same period in 2025 (7,593). The share of deregistered motorhomes reached 52.1% of the total registered (185,174), compared to 42.9% a year earlier. State Secretary Eerenberg informed parliament about progress on a motion to simplify the deregistration tariff system so that motorhomes automatically qualify for the low rate. The RDW is conducting research, with results expected by the end of 2026; any tariff changes could take effect on January 1, 2028.
