From 1 July 2011, Poland will implement the viaTOLL electronic toll collection system on 1600 km of roads, including motorways, expressways and selected national roads. The toll applies to motor vehicles and vehicle combinations with a permissible total weight exceeding 3.5 tonnes, covering motorhomes and cars towing caravans. For Euro 5 vehicles, the rate is PLN 0.20 per km on motorways and expressways, and PLN 0.16 per km on national roads. Drivers must purchase a viaBOX device (PLN 120, refundable deposit) and register. Non-payment carries a fine of PLN 3000.
