Przydasizm: The Caravanning Culture Called 'It Might Come in Handy'
Original source: polskicaravaning.pl

The author introduces the term 'przydasizm' to describe the habit of caravaners to pack extra items 'just in case'. Switching from a caravan to a camper van forced the family to reconsider their packing habits and discard unnecessary items like a windbreak and an old volleyball due to weight and space constraints. The article also offers practical advice on reducing luggage, such as packing fewer clothes and washing them on the go, and using improvisation instead of carrying many gadgets.

Caravanning in Europe: savings up to 60% compared to hotels

According to a study by the German Institute DWIF, commissioned by CIVD, caravanning in Europe can save up to 60% of the budget compared to hotel stays and apartment rentals. However, motorhomes are more expensive to buy and maintain than caravans. New motorhomes start at 300,000 zlotys, while used ones cost from 70,000 euros. Insurance for a motorhome costs 1.3–2% of its value, and some spare parts can cost up to 450 euros. Meanwhile, a 14-day holiday in a motorhome is cheaper than staying in an apartment or hotel.
