Handover (motorhome hire)
Handover, hire briefing, vehicle briefing, collection, demonstration, walkaround, pick-up
The handover is the process of collecting a hire motorhome: a briefing on every system plus a joint walkaround recording existing damage. It takes 45 minutes to an hour and a half.
The briefing covers filling water and dumping tanks, gas and heating, connecting to 230 V, running the fridge, deploying the awning and the vehicle's dimensions. Film it on your phone — remembering the water-heater ignition sequence on a dark pitch is harder than it sounds. Always walk the body with the staff member and photograph every scratch, plus the roof and windscreen: damage disputes at return are the most common cause of deposit arguments. Confirm the gas type fitted, the mileage allowance and whether tanks come back full or empty.
