Farmer Jason Weir has submitted a planning application to the Lake District National Park Authority for a four-bedroom agricultural worker's dwelling at Greenah Crag, Troutbeck, near Penrith. The application includes temporary siting of a residential caravan during construction. It follows enforcement action against the applicant's current unauthorized mobile home at a relative's farm. The proposal argues an essential need for on-site residence due to animal welfare, lambing, daily cattle checks, and security for over 1,000 sheep and a beef herd. The steel-clad house, designed to resemble an agricultural building, is described as 'unusual'.
