A new General Traffic Regulation takes effect on 1 October, establishing state-level rules for parking motorhomes and campervans for the first time. Parking is permitted if the vehicle rests only on its tyres (safety chocks allowed), does not discharge any fluids, and does not deploy elements extending beyond its footprint, such as awnings. Exceeding these three conditions constitutes illegal camping. Municipalities may adapt local ordinances to regulate parking duration, set differentiated fees based on vehicle size or environmental label, and order removal or immobilisation of non-compliant vehicles. The measure addresses congestion in coastal areas including Roquetas de Mar and the Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park, where dozens of violations are recorded annually.
