The President of Poland has signed a law abolishing the e-TOLL payment obligation for passenger cars and light vans (GVW up to 3.5 t) when towing a trailer. Under the law of 29 May 2026, from 21 September 2026 drivers of such vehicles are exempt from registering trips and paying the electronic toll on toll road sections.
Account holders who used their accounts solely for toll payments for such vehicles must close them and may apply for a refund of unused funds within six months (until 21 March 2027). After that deadline, funds are transferred to the Krajowy Fundusz Drogowy, and vehicle data is removed from the e-TOLL register.
Until the changes take effect, old rules apply: if the combined GVW of car and trailer exceeds 3.5 t, registration in e-TOLL, payment, and geodata transmission are required. The fine for non-payment is 500 zlotys, and for incorrect data 250 zlotys; after the changes, these fines are abolished for passenger cars with trailers.
