Driving the same car and caravan, the maximum permitted speed can increase by 40 km/h after crossing borders. In the Netherlands, a passenger car with a trailer up to 3,500 kg is limited to 90 km/h; in Belgium, 120 km/h; in France, 130 km/h. In France, the higher limit depends not on actual weight but on the maximum permissible mass of the combination stated in field F.3 of the registration document. If that value exceeds 3,500 kg, the limit on French motorways is 90 km/h. In rain, the motorway limit drops to 110 km/h.
