An NKC survey found that 56% of camper van owners see vehicle tax as their biggest financial concern, and 49% say the increased tax strongly affects their use of the vehicle. A third now use their camper van less than before, with spontaneous weekend trips particularly affected. 66% support a separate tax for camper vans based on kilometres driven in the Netherlands, similar to the truck levy. 79% have suspended their camper van registration at least once to save costs, and 51% have done so multiple times. NKC is calling on the government and parliament to include a separate camper van scheme in the development of a future-proof vehicle tax system.
