Contractor Bam Nuttall, carrying out £31.5m improvements to Grutness Harbour as part of the Fair Isle ferry project, has built a caravan and motorhome park on an adjacent site without obtaining planning permission. The site has been prepared with concrete, water supply ducts, and electricity hook-ups. Residents have criticized the development, suggesting the landowner leveraged the contractor's need for a laydown area to secure the caravan park. Shetland Islands Council and Bam Nuttall stated the work is separate from the harbour project and the land is privately owned.
