In Cantabria, regional legislation and municipal ordinances define camping for motorhomes and camper vans differently. Decree 35/2026 allows parking without deployed elements, but ordinances in San Vicente de la Barquera and Suances set stricter criteria. In Suances, sleeping inside a vehicle is treated as camping and fined 750 euros. In San Vicente de la Barquera, fines reach 3000 euros in the Oyambre Natural Park. Regional rules limit stays at motorhome stopover areas to 48 hours.
