The municipality of O Grove (Spain) has announced a campaign of intensified control over parking and overnight stays of motorhomes in natural areas, especially in protected zones such as beaches. Local police will monitor vehicles that set up camping elements (tables, chairs, awnings) and obstruct passage.
Authorities are also installing new signs restricting access for vehicles heavier than 3000 kg on narrow roads and in Natura 2000 areas. Mayor José Cacabelos stated the intention to adopt a municipal regulation for motorhomes before summer. According to officials, the goal is not prohibition but the regulation of tourism, a problem that worsens in the summer season when population and tourism triple.
