The municipality of O Grove (Pontevedra, Galicia) unanimously approved an ordinance regulating campervan parking at an extraordinary plenary session on June 16, 2026. The document introduces time and zone restrictions, as well as fines: from €300 for minor violations to €6,000 with possible expulsion for very serious ones (parking in protected areas, dumping waste outside permitted places, damaging property).
From July 1, parking near beaches is prohibited from 23:00 to 08:00 for all vehicles. On narrow roads in Natura 2000 areas, vehicles heavier than 3000 kg (according to other sources, 3 tons) are restricted. Setting up tables, chairs, and awnings outside the campervan is also prohibited. Since June, police have been conducting raids on the coast, including the Reborido and As Pipas areas.
The ordinance allows for the creation of a municipal campervan zone, but the municipality considers the existing private campsite infrastructure sufficient. At the same time, the General Urban Development Plan (PXOM) was preliminarily approved for the fourth time and sent to the General Directorate of Urban Planning of the Xunta de Galicia.
