Two separate conflicts over camper vans have emerged in the Netherlands.
In the 't Zand district of Middelburg, residents report inconvenience from camper vans driving on narrow streets. Locals must move their cars to let campers pass, and dangerous situations arise with pedestrians. Resident Tessa Sonnemans has repeatedly contacted the municipal council. Authorities acknowledged the problem and promised to consider solutions, including better signage for tourists heading to the city campsite or center, and introducing a 30 km/h speed zone.
In the Luneven district of Boxmeer, a conflict arose over a camper van over seven meters long parked on the driveway in front of the owner's house. A neighbor filed a complaint with the municipality, claiming the vehicle spoils the street's appearance and reduces quality of life. The camper owner insists on compliance with current rules, which allow such parking. The municipality of Land van Cuijk found no violations after an inspection, but the complainant demands additional restrictions similar to those in other cities.
