Spain's DGT has published Instruction PROT 2026/04, clarifying rules for motorhomes and camper vans. The document distinguishes parking from camping: parking is allowed if the vehicle rests only on its wheels, without stabilizers or deployed external elements (awning, chairs). Sleeping inside a properly parked motorhome is considered parking. Illegal camping carries a fine of €40 per square meter per day; improper parking fines range from €50 to €150.
