Ahead of Easter Week, the DGT has introduced new rules for motorhomes and campers. Motorhomes undergo technical inspections on the same schedule as passenger cars, while campers are inspected annually up to 10 years old, then every six months.
The rules clearly separate parking and camping: parking is allowed, but camping regulation is left to municipalities. Based on a 2018 Supreme Court ruling, municipalities may restrict parking and prohibit camping on urban streets. Fines for violations can reach 500 euros.
Since January 1, the use of the reflective V-16 warning light has been mandatory instead of emergency triangles.
