In 2025, Germany recorded nearly 45 million overnight stays at campsites, excluding motorhome parking spots. Despite a 2.6% decline in new motorhome registrations in 2025, the first quarter of 2026 saw a 30.1% increase to 21,105 units. The growth is partly due to the expiration of a special permit for registering 2024 models with Euro 6d standards, forcing dealers to clear inventory.

Motorhome registrations decline: Has the love for motorhomes cooled?

New motorhome registrations in Germany have fallen by 3.7% year-on-year, marking a downturn after years of strong growth. The decline follows a pandemic-driven boom that saw prices for base models rise by approximately €15,000. Many dealers now have full lots of previous-year models and are selling them at a discount, with some large businesses having filed for insolvency.
