In Brief

Smart Camping uses sensors, automation and connected systems to enhance comfort and safety in motorhomes and caravans. Manufacturer La Strada has introduced the Onda system, allowing key parameters to be monitored via an app.

The Smart Camping concept uses sensors, automation and connected systems to increase comfort and safety in motorhomes and caravans. Key features include remote control of climate and lighting via an app, process automation and energy monitoring. Systems such as the modular E-Trailer solution or the REVOTION central control panel allow monitoring of water level, battery charge and temperature.

Motorhome manufacturer La Strada has introduced new electronic controls in its production models. The Onda app allows control of fuel and water levels, temperature, heating and battery charge, as well as remote light switching. An optional GPS tracking and global internet-based control is available for an additional fee.

Digital Pathfinder: What the Garmin Womonavi Can Do

The Garmin Camper 795 MT-D EU is a specialized navigation system for motorhomes and caravans. It warns about low bridges, height and weight restrictions, and environmental zones. In testing, the device correctly identified height limits in nine out of ten cases but occasionally made errors, such as declaring a campsite access road a no-go zone. The system also draws significant power from the vehicle's electrical system.
