RV sat nav

Apps & Websites

Sat nav, GPS, satellite navigation, RV GPS, campervan sat nav, truck GPS, height-aware navigation

An RV sat nav routes around the vehicle's dimensions and weight instead of treating it as a car. It accounts for bridge heights, width limits, weight-restricted roads and 3.5-tonne bans.

A standard phone navigation app will happily send a 3 m motorhome under a 2.7 m bridge or into a village lane with nowhere to turn. Purpose-built options include Garmin Camper, TomTom Go Camper and the CoPilot and Sygic Truck apps, all of which take height, width, length and gross weight. OpenStreetMap bridge-height data is patchy, so road signs always outrank the device. Many travellers run a second navigation app or cross-check the destination in Park4Night so the endpoint is a real place to stop.
