Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles will present the ID. California Cruise concept at the Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf from August 28 to September 6, 2026. The electric camper based on the ID.Buzz will feature an 86 kWh battery (range over 470 km WLTP) and will form the basis of a new family of electric campers, with launches planned by 2028.
The price is not confirmed, but estimates put it above 70,000 euros. A petrol California Beach with inflatable modules from startup Stuff Bubble will also be shown. The inflatable equipment allows the van to be turned into a full camper in minutes. The company says the concept will bring the freedom, versatility and practicality of the California family into the electric mobility era.
At the same show, Volkswagen will present a new generation of California based on the Multivan with hybrid engines and a modular design, as well as a concept with an inflatable kitchen and sleeping area developed together with Stuff Bubble. These models are intended for the European market and will not be available in the US for now.
In connection with the presentation of the ID. California Cruise, the company has reduced leasing prices for the ID. Buzz: the offer starts at 647 euros per month. The vehicle will be available from December 2026. The equipment includes a 286-hp engine, 7 seats, a tow hitch and various driver assistance systems.
