Coupling head, trailer hitch coupling, caravan hitch, ball hitch, AL-KO hitch, BPW coupling

A hitch is the coupling mechanism on the caravan or trailer drawbar that attaches to the tow ball on the towing vehicle. In North American usage "hitch" can also refer to the receiver or tow bar assembly.

European hitches are typically 50 mm ball couplings (AL-KO, BPW). They include friction stabiliser pads or an electronic stabiliser (AL-KO ATC) to prevent sway. Match hitch rating to the caravan's nose weight and GTW.
