Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has launched a special edition of the California Ocean camper called Generation. It is available with three engines: a 2.0-litre diesel (150 hp), a petrol (204 hp) and a plug-in hybrid (245 hp). Prices start at 91,309 euros for the diesel version.
Equipment includes 18-inch gloss-black alloy wheels, chrome trim, two-tone seat upholstery, aluminium pedal covers, special floor mats and a projection of the California logo. The model also features a pop-up roof, kitchen unit and sleeping berths.
At the same time, all California versions now offer an electric tailgate, enhanced heating and climate control with night-time temperature reduction, and a thermal flap for the sleeping area under the pop-up roof. Prices for the base camper start at 66,100 euros.
The updated California for the 2026 model year features a new front end and LED headlights, plus a 12.9-inch display in the cabin. The engine lineup now includes the eHybrid 4Motion plug-in hybrid with a system output of 180 kW (245 hp) and an electric range of around 90 km. Prices for the diesel Beach version start at 66,087 euros.
