Volkswagen has officially introduced the ID. California Cruise, an electric camper van based on the ID. Buzz, designed for emission-free recreational use. The model debuted at Caravan Salon 2026 and is scheduled for customer deliveries in early 2027. It is Volkswagen's first electric camper van in the California family. The cabin accommodates two people for overnight stays, with a bed measuring 2.03 m long and 1.20 m wide, a new 9 cm thick folding mattress, front side window ventilation, and blackout curtains. Two camping chairs and a table are included. The concept was developed by Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles with Stuff Bubble. It is based on the ID. Buzz Pro and is available in short and long wheelbase versions. Vehicle-to-load provides up to 2,000 W continuous and 3.6 kW peak power for external devices. California Mode keeps lights, USB ports, and certain comfort functions running for up to 48 hours.
