The European motorhome market continues to expand. In the Netherlands, 2025 saw a record number of new motorhomes and caravans registered — 10,107 units, the second-highest figure in 15 years. Motorhome registrations rose 16% compared to 2024, reaching 2,863 units.

Spain also began 2026 with sales growth across all formats. At the same time, municipalities are imposing more restrictions on parking and overnight stays. The DGT (General Directorate of Traffic) issued guidelines distinguishing between 'overnight stay' and 'camping,' leaving regulation to local authorities.

The restrictions are driven by resident complaints about unsanitary behavior by some tourists, such as setting up awnings and washing with water discharge in parking lots. According to one author, such isolated incidents harm the entire motorhome community.
