Mercedes-Benz Vans has moved production of the Marco Polo camper van to its own plant in Ludwigsfelde, Germany. For the first time in the model's more than 40-year history, all main stages of manufacture, from the base vehicle to the fitting of the living area, take place at Mercedes-Benz facilities. The Marco Polo is still based on the V-Class, which is built in Vitoria, Spain; the vehicles then go to Ludwigsfelde, where they are converted into camper vans. The plant has prepared a separate workshop and a new flexible conveyor system for this work, and production processes were planned digitally with paper documentation dropped. The new Marco Polo is already available to order in Germany and other European markets, including Poland; the range also includes the Marco Polo Horizon.
