The 30-episode MDR documentary series ‘Verrückt nach Camping’ continues to portray life at four campsites in Germany. New episodes feature caravan repairs, travel bloggers with a child, and campsite gastronomy.

An 80-year-old property owner in Dielheim accidentally ignited stored items while using a gas weed burner. The fire spread to a parked motorhome and adjacent buildings. Damage is estimated at €50,000; one firefighter suffered minor smoke inhalation.

US manufacturer Encore has introduced the ROG 12RK-FB mini travel trailer, featuring a foldable shower and toilet mounted above the drawbar. The trailer is 4.6 meters long with a 3.7-meter living space. Inside, a sofa converts into a double bed (2.03×1.52 m), and the rear houses a pull-out outdoor kitchen with a 100-liter fridge, sink, and two-burner stove. The caravan weighs 1,270 kg and starts at $34,450 (approx. €29,565) in the US.

Owners of motorhomes and caravans with LPG systems must undergo an inspection every two years and after any repair. Since mid-June 2025, proof of a functional system for heating, cooking, and cooling is required. Fines for missing the inspection range from €15 to €80. The check takes 20–45 minutes and costs €40–€80.

For the Feast of Corpus Christi (Fronleichnam), camping sites in Hessen are almost completely booked. Some sites, like Bettenhagen on Lake Edersee, only offer tent pitches without prior reservation. Others, such as Rhön-Camping-Park and the site at Nidda Reservoir, can only accommodate guests outside the holiday dates. According to an ADAC analysis, Hessen ranks second among the cheapest federal states for camping: a family of two adults and one child pays an average of 37 euros per night in the 2026 peak season.

The island of Fehmarn in Schleswig-Holstein attracts surfers due to wind conditions, especially in autumn. More than half of tourist overnight stays on the island are at campsites, where a pitch costs 30–50 euros per night. There are about 20 campsites on the island, some located directly on the beach and near surf spots.
