Volkswagen has updated the Grand California and launched a Dune special edition. A test drive of the all-wheel-drive Dune 600 took place in Andalusia. The 2.0 TDI engine is detuned to 163 hp (from 177) to meet emission standards, torque remains at 410 Nm. Curb weight with AWD and extras required a GVWR increase to 3.88 t. Interior features light plastic panels, 'Atami Bambus' decor, digital lighting and climate control via touchscreen and California app. The rear transverse bed is under 2 m long; an optional pop-up roof bed fits one adult or two children. Standard 8-speed automatic, 4Motion optional.
