Volkswagen Nutzfahrzeuge, together with Stuff Bubble, will present inflatable kitchen and bed modules for the California Beach at the Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf (August 28 – September 6, 2026). The kitchen weighs less than 10 kg, the bed 12 kg (double) or 6 kg (single). The system allows the vehicle to be used as a six-seater and sleep up to four people. The modules can be installed or removed by one person in a few minutes, without permanent modifications, allowing the vehicle to be used in everyday life without extra weight. The kitchen has a closed water cycle. The modules are also compatible with other Multivan T7 models.
The concept is called California Beach Air: the kit includes two inflatable beds and a kitchen module that can be removed, turning the vehicle into a six-seater van. The kit weighs less than 36 kg, which is 68 kg lighter than the standard Beach Camper equipment.
VW also announced the electric camper ID. California Cruise based on the ID. Buzz. It is the brand's first electric camper and will form the basis for a family of battery-powered motorhomes. Production models will appear by 2028. The electric version will offer batteries of 79 or 86 kWh with a range of up to 283 or 293 miles, respectively. Technical specifications will be announced at the show. The inflatable kitchen and a two-part bed measuring up to 2.00 × 1.34 m will also be available for the Multivan. These models will not be offered in the US. At the show, VW will gather customer feedback to determine the future development of electric campers. For now, the modules are presented as a concept.
