Russian motorhomes based on GAZ light commercial vehicles are competing with imported models, according to motorhome traveller Artyom Achkasov. He said such vehicles, mostly converted Sobol 4x4 minibuses, perform well on long routes and have an accessible repair base with spare parts. Demand for motorhomes from China rose by 300 per cent over the past year. According to the expert, Russian all-wheel-drive vans often handle off-road conditions better, which matters because tourist areas in Russia remain poorly developed.
