Demand for Chinese-made two-storey motorhomes in Russia has grown by 300% over the past year. Motoring experts told the Telegram channel Baza. Buyers increasingly choose mobile homes for travelling around the country: they cut hotel costs and let travellers plan their own routes.
Why interest is growing
The experts link the rush for these "flats on wheels" to the growing popularity of domestic tourism. A motorhome gives more freedom of route and independence from flights, which are often rescheduled at present.
Over the past two years Chinese manufacturers have sharply increased camper production. A large part of their output goes for export, including to Russia. More than 50 models of Chinese motorhomes can now be ordered on the Russian market.
Prices
In the budget segment Chinese motorhomes cost from 2 to 5 million roubles. European models usually start at 6–7 million roubles, and more expensive ones can cost from 10 to 15 million roubles and above. In some cases the price difference reaches threefold. Premium-class motorhomes can start at 50 million roubles.
