Demand for used motorhomes in the Netherlands is declining, despite rising airfare prices. According to vehicle specialist OSW, consumers are more critical of ownership and operating costs. Key factors include high fuel prices and increased taxes, including road tax.
Since January 1, 2026, road tax for these vehicles has been raised: the popular quarter rate was replaced by a half rate, doubling the tax for owners. An attempt to reverse the increase through parliament failed on May 12. The average recommended diesel price is around €2.51 per litre.
Sellers are increasingly willing to negotiate, while professional buyers are cutting purchases. However, total registrations of new motorhomes rose by 9% in the first four months of the year.
