Nine Chinese ministries and agencies have published a package of measures to support the RV and camping industry. In Chengdu, RV sales in 2025 exceeded 42 million yuan. Rentals are gaining popularity: a seven-day rental in Tianjin costs 399 yuan. One of the largest companies operates a fleet of 2,000 vehicles.
The average RV price has dropped from 600,000 to 400,000 yuan thanks to localization of components. In Chenji town (Jiangsu province), every tenth RV in China is produced; industry revenue in 2025 reached about 600 million yuan.
The industry faces a shortage of campsites: only about 1,000 certified sites exist. Restrictions remain: RV length must not exceed 6 meters, towed trailer weight 4.5 tons, and a corresponding driving license is required. Detailed rules for modifications are also lacking.
