Measures
China's State Council circulated the document "On measures to stimulate motorhome consumption", prepared by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism with nine other agencies. It contains nine points: improving supply quality, optimizing registration and disposal, driver training, ensuring passage and parking, developing campgrounds, expanding tourism products, improving rentals, financial support and safety measures.
Service life
The mandatory 15-year service life for small and micro motorhomes for non-commercial use is scrapped. The service life of rental motorhomes is extended from 15 to 25 years, and towed caravans from 15 to 20 years.
Market
In the first half of 2026, 12,153 self-propelled motorhomes were registered (+32.6% year on year), including 5,315 campers (+64.2%). Sales of new energy campers in the first quarter of 2026 rose by 467%. By the end of 2025, there were 1,287 standardized campgrounds and more than 3,100 motorhome accommodation facilities. Beijing has about 60 motorhome campgrounds, mostly in suburbs; at an exhibition in Shunyi, nearly 100 vehicles were sold for more than 10 million yuan.
