Alpencamper Eco Slide Out bike trailer turns into a camper for two

A 30-year-old unlicensed driver tried to flee a police check after a phone violation, crashed into a motorhome at an intersection, and jumped from the car. He was seriously injured; two in the motorhome sustained minor injuries.

Swiss company Alpencamper has introduced the ECO e-bike caravan, a lightweight trailer for cyclists. It features a slide-out side wall that expands interior space to 140×208 cm and a compost toilet. Curb weight is just over 50 kg, payload is 32 kg. The base version costs €6,500, the slide-out model €9,110.

A couple purchased a compact 1990s camper van at a car show, but sold it after a few trips due to unmet expectations. The interior was too cramped for the husband's height (6 feet), and the seller concealed a broken generator and microwave. Maintenance, insurance, and storage costs outweighed the benefits of infrequent use. The couple now plans road trips using their regular car and budget accommodations.

Seven campsites in the Alps, located at altitudes from 1560 to 1981 meters in Italy, France and Switzerland, are presented. The highest is Point Breuil (1981 m) in Aosta, Italy. Some sites temporarily operate in a simplified mode due to bad weather.
