The German Foreign Office has issued a travel advisory for tourists heading to Sweden in motorhomes and caravans. The office notes that break-ins and robberies targeting motorhome and caravan owners are not uncommon, even at official campsites. In August 2025, 15 such incidents were recorded in the Gothenburg region. Criminals target cash and valuables, focusing on vehicles parked at remote campsites and along the E6 highway, as well as near ferry terminals such as Trelleborg. Recommendations include storing digital copies of documents, keeping valuables separate, avoiding cash, staying at guarded campsites, and securing the vehicle with an additional lock while sleeping.
