The German Foreign Office has issued a security warning for travelers using motorhomes and caravans in Sweden. The authority states that break-ins and attacks on owners of such vehicles are widespread, including on official campsites. Particularly dangerous are transit routes in the south and west of the country, including the ferry ports of Malmö and Trelleborg, as well as the E6 highway. In August 2025, police reported a series of about 15 thefts in the Gothenburg area. Recommendations include using guarded campsites, additional locks, and not leaving valuables visible.
