The Technical Safety Authority of British Columbia (TSBC) has determined that rodents caused the explosion of a fifth-wheel RV in Abbotsford on March 2 by gnawing through the gas hose and electrical wiring, leading to a propane leak. The blast occurred at Aloha RV Park while owner Sylvia Gillis was away, resulting in serious burns to the 68-year-old woman and her dog.
According to TSBC, the gas leak likely began several days before the explosion. The propane detector did not activate, likely because it was missing or faulty, preventing early detection of the danger.
