A motorhome was completely destroyed by fire on Oude Eik street in Ravels-Eel on Tuesday evening. The fire service of the Taxandria emergency zone received a call shortly before 9 pm. A man inside the vehicle noticed a smell of smoke and tried to extinguish the fire but failed. By the time firefighters arrived, the vehicle was fully ablaze and explosions from gas cylinders were heard. Firefighters prevented the fire from spreading to the adjacent house, but windows of the house were damaged and several trees were slightly scorched. The man managed to escape in time and was not injured. The cause of the fire has not yet been established.
