In Viversel (Heusden-Zolder), a motorhome burned out completely at a parking area along the Albert Canal. The 31-year-old man inside suffered life-threatening burns and smoke inhalation while trying to save his dog, which did not survive. He managed to get out of the vehicle on his own.
The fire was discovered by police during a patrol. Firefighters and police preliminarily consider the incident an accident. The Limburg prosecutor's office has ordered a forensic investigation; foul play has been ruled out.
