On the evening of April 25, 2026, a caravan parked in a green area in Rome's Eur district caught fire while a 62-year-old Italian homeless man was cooking dinner using a gas burner. Preliminary investigations suggest a malfunction of the burner caused the blaze. Despite timely rescue by passers-by and urgent hospitalization, the man suffered severe burns and died on the night of April 28–29. The caravan was completely destroyed and seized for examination.
