On June 28, 2026, around 4:30 PM on state road SS16 in Giulianova (Teramo province), a campervan with Swiss plates lost control and crashed into a shop window. According to various sources, the shop was closed or it was a gift shop, hardware store, or clothing store "Piazza Italia".
The vehicle carried a family of three (reportedly a couple aged 50 and their 18-year-old daughter). All three were taken to Giulianova hospital with non-serious injuries. One woman was trapped in the cabin and freed by firefighters. Three dogs in the campervan were unharmed and temporarily handed over to a local association.
The cause of the accident is being investigated. Possible explanations include sudden driver drowsiness, illness, or distraction. Firefighters from Roseto degli Abruzzi, two ambulance crews, and carabinieri responded.
