A serious accident occurred on the A1 near Heiligenhafen (Ostholstein district) on Friday afternoon, involving four vehicles. According to preliminary reports, a motorhome and a car first collided, after which the motorhome hit another car, which in turn collided with a fourth vehicle. Another account says a blue car triggered the collision, causing the motorhome to be thrown against the crash barrier.
Seven people were injured, four of them seriously. Among the lightly injured are two children. In total, twelve people were involved, five of whom were unharmed. The road towards Puttgarden is fully closed, with traffic diverted via the Heiligenhafen-Mitte exit. The motorway towards the north was fully closed for about eight hours, and a rescue helicopter was on site. The cause is being investigated by an expert.
