Incident timeline
On June 5, 2026, at the junction of motorway A20 and road B109 near Greifswald (Vorpommern-Greifswald district), a collision occurred. According to police, an 83-year-old car driver failed to notice an oncoming vehicle when entering the road. After the impact, his car was thrown into a motorhome.
Casualties and aftermath
The 83-year-old driver and a 45-year-old woman driving the second car suffered serious injuries; their passengers (aged 22 and 49) sustained minor injuries. The motorhome occupants (aged 82 and 68) were unhurt. The injured were taken to hospitals, some by helicopter. All three vehicles were damaged and had to be towed; the road was temporarily fully closed. Around 20 firefighters, three ambulances and a helicopter were on site.
