Camper van crash near Greifswald: four injured, two seriously

Developers have released CaraTrip, an app designed to log travels by motorhome, caravan, or camper van. The app allows users to record route stages, stops, personal notes, and save information about parking spots and campsites. It includes vehicle management features, such as maintenance schedules and checklists. Data is stored locally by default, with optional iCloud sync. The app is free, with potential future monetization through ads or premium extensions.

In Bretten, district of Rinklingen, an unknown perpetrator stole a Hobby caravan parked behind a company building on Rinklinger Strasse. The thief removed the lock, hitched the caravan to a dark vehicle, and drove off northwards. The Bretten police station is investigating and asks witnesses to call 07252 50460.

On Thursday evening around 7:25 PM in Nördlingen, a motorhome driver scraped a parked car and left the scene without fulfilling legal obligations. Two witnesses followed the vehicle, leading police to identify the responsible driver. Damage is estimated at €200. The driver now faces proceedings for hit-and-run.

On Wednesday evening, an unknown person stole a locked caravan in Bretten-Rinklingen. Police are asking the public for information about the incident.

The German automobile club ADAC conducted tests showing that an external reflective sunshade on the windshield reduces interior temperature to 45 °C, compared to 49 °C with an internal shade and 59.1 °C without any protection. The difference is due to physics: external shades reflect radiation before it passes through the glass, reducing heat buildup. For camper vans and motorhomes, where the space is used for living, this lowers the load on ventilation and air conditioning.
