The Spanish Caravanning Industry and Trade Association ASEICAR has launched the Astrocaravaning project to promote astronomical tourism. The website compiles routes across Spain to the best astronomical observatories and nearby overnight accommodations. The project is timed to the total solar eclipse on August 12, whose path crosses the north of the peninsula, including Galicia, Asturias, Castile and León, Aragon, the Valencian Community and the Balearic Islands. ASEICAR notes that 90% of bookings are already taken, and the average rental price for a motorhome for four people is 150–175 euros per day.
The city of Caspe (Spain) will prepare free motorhome spaces from August 11 to 13, 2026, for the total solar eclipse. Advance registration by email is required. The official observation point is the El Portal range, located on the N-211 towards Alcañiz, 4 km from the city. A bus transfer from Plaza Aragón is organized with departures at 19:00, 19:15, 19:30 and 19:45, and return trips at 21:00, 21:15, 21:30 and 21:45. Protective glasses can be purchased at the tourist office for 1.50 euros.
Zamora also expects a tourist influx for the eclipse. Due to high hotel demand, travelers are choosing campsites and motorhome areas that offer accommodation in natural settings with low light pollution. Options include the Los Arribes, Sierra de la Culebra and Los Molinos campsites, as well as motorhome areas in Pobladura del Valle, Bretocino, Corrales del Vino, Villadepera and the city of Zamora. For eclipse viewing, spots with an open western horizon are recommended, as the sun will be low. The Zamora municipality is organizing a special service: seven equipped viewing platforms, shuttle buses and free distribution of certified glasses.
According to industry data, almost all rental motorhomes in Spain (about 9,000) are already booked for the eclipse date, which will be visible from the Iberian Peninsula for the first time in 114 years. Rental prices in July-August range from 160 to 230 euros per night. About half a million motorhomes will be on Spanish roads this summer. The Association of Caravanning Enterprises of the Valencian Community calls motorhomes "the best mobile astronomical observatories."
