Record figures
According to Eurostat, EU campsites registered 135,750,659 overnight stays in the first half of 2026 — an absolute record and 72% more than ten years ago. BOVAG and KCI report 136 million overnight stays, which may be due to rounding or a different counting method.
The Netherlands
In the Netherlands, more than 10 million overnight stays were recorded in the same period, almost 1% more than a year earlier. As of 1 September, the country had a record number of motorhomes and caravans — 635,000 units, about 8,500 more than a year earlier.
Utrecht exhibition
From 30 September to 4 October, the 61st Kampeer & Caravan Jaarbeurs exhibition is taking place in Utrecht. BOVAG is presenting an updated stand concept in hall 11, stand C030, demonstrating the caravan inspection process on a lift. On the first day, the LumeRanger by LumeTraveler from Holten received the ANWB Caravan of the Year 2027 title, while the Sunlight IBEX 4x4 was named Camper of the Year 2027.
