Firefighters from Salcombe began tackling the fire before a crew from Dartmouth arrived, later joined by Kingsbridge station. It was the second call of the day for Dartmouth station: according to one source, they had earlier attended a house fire where the ground floor was filled with smoke; according to another source, it was a false alarm.
